Pursuant to the assent of the President of India on 25th December 2007 the ARMED FORCES TRIBUNAL ACT, 2007 and publication of Gazette Notification No. SRO 116(E), the Armed Forces Tribunal, Regional Bench, Lucknow came into effect on 9th November 2009. Regional Bench, Lucknow has jurisdiction over the States of Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Chhattisgarh. The Tribunal has original jurisdiction in service matters relating to the Army, Air Force and Navy and appellate jurisdiction in court martial cases. 1. After independence, Defence Services Regulations were formulated as directives for functioning of all the three Services viz the Army, Air Force and Navy.
